Bio
Viktoria Binges is a Hungarian-born photographic artist and facilitator based in London since 2009. Her practice sits at the intersection of photography, lived experience and psychosocial thinking, with a growing focus on Arts & Health.Since 2024, she has volunteered at Headway London, supporting people living with brain injury, and more recently joined the organisation as a Peer Researcher. Her wider work includes research co-production and lived-experience consultation, with a particular interest in making research accessible and meaningful to the people whose experiences it represents.
Viktoria holds a First Class BA in Psychosocial Studies with Principles of Psychodynamic Counselling and is currently studying for an MA in Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck, University of London. She is also trained in Therapeutic Photography Facilitation.
Across her practice, photography, lived experience and psychosocial approaches come together through the idea of Care through Visual Reflection.
Artist Statement
My practice is shaped by lived experience. After going through a life-changing illness, I turned to photography to communicate experiences that I couldn’t always put into words.My artist books Patient and Sympathy with Small Things When Time Stops reflect on illness, identity and grief, and explore how photography can give difficult experiences a visual voice. This has also drawn me towards what can emerge when photography becomes something we do with others.
Since sharing my work, I have found that its openness can invite others to share experiences of their own. This exchange has become increasingly important to my practice, shifting photography from something privately reflective towards something that can create connection and shared reflection.
